Stamina’s a huge factor in dividing your attention between blocks and attacks, and the controls feel good while doing it. Luckily, they get most of the basics right. This is a Soulslike game though, so combat is going to feel way more crucial than it did in previous Spiders games. It may be a familiar tale, but it’s told through such a unique and hauntingly different set of characters that it feels very fresh with an impressive display of worldbuilding. The story’s quite different though, as you play as an automaton yourself, but you’re actually trying to put an end to all this oppression around you. They patrol the streets of iconic places like Paris and Versailles and brutally keep the peace, which is where the similarities with Lies of P are more apparent. The game is set during the French Revolution, but King Louis’ army consists of automatons this time around. On the bright side, for fans of their previous work, they’ve infused the formula with plenty of their trademark storytelling elements, which is something that’s often lacking in Soulslikes, and even leads to several possible endings here. That’s a bit of a departure for the developer as well, as they’ve mostly been making action-driven RPGs in the past decade or so. But despite similarities in theme and look and feel, Steelrising feels much more like a Soulslike title than Lies of P does. One of the biggest compliments we could give Steelrising is that, when we met with Neowiz for Lies of P recently, we thought “this looks a bit like Steelrising” – which isn’t too shabby a comparison for Spiders as Neowiz walked away with a bunch of awards Gamescom last month. As we enjoyed that one quite a bit, we were looking forward to Steelrising, which we’re reviewing on the PlayStation 5. This weekend for the first time, the US-based community will be able to get hands-on time with Lies of P to see what all the excitement is about.While Spiders Studio used to launch a new title every year, they’ve changed things up a bit and it’s been three years since the launch of GreedFall. At Gamescom’s Awards, NEOWIZ and Lies of P were presented with Best Action Adventure Game and Best Role Playing Game awards. The Souls-like game won prestigious awards, including Most Wanted Sony PlayStation Game during Opening Night Live at Gamescom. Lies of P is one of the most-anticipated action RPGs from industry-leading innovator Neowiz. The Lies of P demo promises to dazzle visitors’ eyes thanks to AMD’s high-end tech. Developers are beyond excited to show off Lies of P to thousands of new fans. NEOWIZ is bringing its upcoming action RPG Lies of P and an all-new demo to the AMD Booth at PAX West from September 2-5, 2022 in the Seattle (WA) Convention Center. Lies of P will debut in 2023 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox platforms. Interact with survivors, where lies won’t cause your nose to grow longer, but rather more human. Players will control the Puppet Mechanoid who must fight, salvage and craft to survive in the ruins of an ornate city.
This weekend at PAX West, attendees will have 4 days to get their hands on the demo of this upcoming title at the AMD booth (#617). Who doesn’t love a gritty retelling of a childhood tale? Well Neowiz certainly does and every time they showed their retelling of Pinocchio, Lies of P they have been showered with praise from players and the press alike.
